Abstract

|
With development of immunochemical methods for analysis of proteins in cerebrospinal fluid, quantitative determination of immune globulin level in cerebrospinal fluid and it¢¥s purification have been made possible in recent years.
In 1942, Kabat and co-workers iu> , using the Tiselius 22) electrophoresis method, first reported that the cerebrospinal fluid gamma-globulin content was elevated in some patients with multiple sclerosis and s neurosyphilis.
A method of electroimmunodiffusion (RID) suitable for use with minute volumes of unconcentrated cerebrospinal fluid or other body fluid was described by Merill, et al.¢¥s), in 1967.
The purpose of this study is to quantitate the immune globulin level of normal cerebrospinal fluid in Korean, by the method of RID.
The results are as follows: The IgG level of normal cerebrospinal fluid in Korean was 2.48+0.12 mg/ 100ml, the IgA level, 0. 27¡¾0. 01 mg/100ml, and the mean ratio of IgG to total protein of normal cerebrospinal fluid was 6.9%.
